Sculpture is an art that has always fascinated me. Recreating flesh from a cold block of stone is a neverending magic for my eyes. It is like being a God, creating life and emotions from nothing. Living in Rome permits me to be surrounded by art, sculpture in particular because you can find it in the middle of the street, indicating an important place where something major happend during the millennial history of the city. The thing that I like the most about sculpture are the shades that light creates when it collide with the smooth marble surface. It is a mimic of what we would see in reality, but it is also real. And that immediately makes me thing about the similitudes with virtual photography. They both try to recreate life from something lifeless. Also, the work behind the creations of the various characters in videogames is a descendant of sculpture.
That is why everytime a sculpture in a game catches my eye, I take a picture of it, trying to return the intensity that it gives to me. This is the reason why I love photography. Because a photo is not something you get. It is something you give.
